Runners, Volunteers and Fans,

While things are continuously evolving, we wanted to provide you with the most up to date information on the 2021 Lake Placid Marathon & Half. If you have any questions, please contact us at

Race Day:

Currently, our race is set for September 12, 2021. With that being said, we are at the mercy of our local/regional/state authorities, and we are working our hardest to get the details figured out to ensure a safe and fun race for everyone.

With the latest guidance from the Governor’s office and the NYS State Department of Health regarding the Buffalo Marathon, we have decided to TEMPORARILY close registration to new racers to keep our capacity at 50% for this September’s Lake Placid Marathon & Half Marathon.

As the race gets closer, we hope to see capacity limits increase so we can reopen registration to more of you. As you all know, we are at the mercy of state and local authorities, and we are committed to the health and safety of our runners above everything else.

As always, we’ll keep you updated with the latest as guidance evolves and our race gets closer.

Deferrals and Transfers from 2020

If you signed up for the 2020 Lake Placid Marathon & Half, you were automatically deferred to 2021. If you need to defer to 2022, please email us at

Charity Partners:

We have spent our extra time this past year doing more to support our charity partners. In 2020, we partnered with the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, Blue Shield of NENY, MVP Health and the Fallen Arch to donate over 120 pair of shoes to our first responders and front line health care workers.  We also donated $6,500 to our local food pantry through Virtual ATL and $300 to the Lake Placid Backpack Program, Elmore SPCA and the ACLU  through a lawn sign initiative Hate Has No Home Here. We hope you will help us support our charity partners like the Elmore SPCA, Lake Placid Backpack Program, and ACLU if you can. Here’s a link to do so:

Now get training, and we’ll see you in September! #LPMarathon #GetYourGold
